Reflection of contemporary Greek society and literature in national cinematography

The first part contains a brief overview on the development of Greek cinema, since it's coming to Greece in the present. The second part is defined on the basis of professional sources, the society, and the family. Afterwards there is included short historical and social developments in the country. Three films, "Aunt from Chicago," "Anna's engagement" and "Dogtooth",illustrate the practice of family functioning in different periods, by discussing the society and the family, in line with main of the work. The third part presents a list of Greek films, which were shot based on literary works.

Bachelor thesis is focused on modern Greek literature and its most important author of twentieth century Pavlos Matesis and presents his work. The central theme of the thesis is novel The Daughter. This paperwork puts this novel in to the context of the whole author's works and watches next transformations of the piece. One of the other forms of this novel is an adaptation written by Pavel Kohout. And the other is a dramatization by the author Pavlos Matesis himself.

Eschatiai and Their Inhabitants in the Greek Literature from Homer to Herodotus

The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to describe and evaluate references to the farthest parts of the world, eschatiai, in Greek literature from its beginnings to the time of the historian Herodotus. After both the primary and the secondary literatures have been examined, differences in the presentations by the individual authors and also the position that the concept of eschatiai occupies in Greek understanding of the space and the world as oikoumene will be presented. The purpose of this work, however, is not only to provide an overview of sources and their contents. Information about the peripheral parts of the world, drawn from the primary sources, forms the basis for studying a broader problem, namely the encounter of the Greeks with different ways of life, the ensuing response to this new experience and a representation of these parts of the world in the literature. In the opening part of my bachelor thesis special attention will be paid to careful definition of the two basic terms, oikoumene and eschatiai. The precise meanings of both terms kept evolving in the course of Greek history.
